Walk description –
The walk comprises of two hill summits, with two steep and strenuous ascents and one steep descent. Mainly good well established paths but with some muddy and boggy sections. The first walk is to the West Lomond Hill, which is the long walk, 4.5 miles back to the car park for lunch. There is a single unisex toilet at the car park. Here is an options for some walkers to leave the group.
After lunch we will walk towards the East Lomond Hill. This is the shorter, 1.2 miles to the summit, but more challenging route and the path can be muddy. There is a further option for ramblers to opt out of the climb to the East Lomond summit, which is the steepest and most challenging, and explore the Limekilns Trail while they wait for the rest of the walkers to return. The views from the summit on a fair day are stunning, and the descent is not difficult on the far side. We then return to the car park.
Gaiters and poles are recommended.
