From Matlock railway station, we set out above the Derwent with good views across the valley. Passing through Cromford, we enjoy the views at Black Rock, going on to Alport Height, commanding a view over the lowlands to the south, and continue to Belper station.
This is a linear walk. We will take the train arriving at Matlock at 10.05; those starting from Loughborough can take the 08.47, changing in Derby. Day return fare £16.10. The Transpeak and Sixes buses also serve the route). Check https://www.nationalrail.co.uk for rail updates. Parking is available at Matlock and Belper for those who wish to use cars.
