STAINDALE, BRIDESTONES & LOCKTON MOOR
Description The walk crosses the A169 and descends into Dalby Forest to follow footpaths to the head of Staindale (coffee stop, public toilets). We then go up to the Bridestones, for a good look round the rocks and lunch, before heading over open moorland to pick up the Old Wives' Way. We take a track across Lockton Low Moor, cross over the A169 and return by a path to our start point.
Apart from the road crossings, the walk is entirely on good paths (lots of stiles), tracks and open moorland with gentle ascents and descents. Some sections will be muddy. Boots are essential. Poles are useful. Warm and waterproof clothing advised.
