Local authorities: Scotland

The councils listed below have the principal responsibility for outdoor access, transport and countryside management in their areas and many of them also manage local parks and green spaces. National Park Authorities act on behalf of councils on outdoor access matters in national parks. If in doubt check with the council first and they will be able to refer you on if necessary.
