Parks and Countryside in London

London is one of the greenest cities in the world, with many hundreds of public open spaces: traditional parks, gardens and squares, woodlands, nature reserves, commons, heaths, watersides and wetlands, and other undeveloped areas now managed for conservation and recreation, as well as some genuine preserved countryside.

These pages show only a selection of the best known, larger and most important sites. Many more local parks and open spaces are managed by the borough councils: contact your local council for details of facilities in your area.
