Signed route: Wales
Clwydian
Way
Taith Clwyd
Circular from Prestatyn via Llangollen,
Corwen and Denbigh 243km/152 miles total
This millennial commemoration route provides
a circuit around Denbighshire through splendid but little-known walking
country in the Clwydian Range and the Vale of Clwyd, through fine scenery
rich in wildlife and the historic towns of Ruthin, Llangollen, Corwen,
Denbigh, St Asaph and Rhuddlan
The main 195km/122-mile route is roughly in
the shape of a bottle with Prestatyn at the top. An alternative 48km/30-mile
moorland section links Mynydd Hiraethog, Llansannan and Denbigh, creating
several shorter circuits.
The Way was first developed by North Wales
Ramblers and launched as an unsigned route in 2001. It was signed with the
help of local authorities and the European Union during 2004 and 2005.
