A route around the coast of this attractive island, known as "Scotland in miniature" and within easy reach of Glasgow. Superb coastal paths and forest tracks through countryside rich in prehistoric remains and geological interest, including two inland alternative routes north of Brodick and north of Whiting Bay, and diversions to Corrie Lochan, Machrie Moor and King's Cross. Some demanding coastal stretches with easier road-based alternatives.

Public Transport

Caledonian MacBrayne (www.calmac.co.uk) operates regular ferries between Brodick and Ardrossan, with rail connections from Glasgow (click here for details of national rail information), and a ferry from Lochranza to Claonaig on the Kintyre peninsula.
