Along the valley of the river Nene as it first meanders through quiet Northamptonshire countryside then straightens out onto a canalised section towards Lincolnshire and the Wash. The route was opened in the late 1980s with the support of the Countryside Commission.

Public Transport

Northampton has regular trains towards London Euston, Rugby and Birmingham. Wellingborough has Midland Main Line trains to London St Pancras, Nottingham and Sheffield. Peterborough has GNER trains to London Kings Cross, Leeds, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh, with regional services to Norwich, Cambridge and Stansted Airport. Buses timed to connect with rail services run between Peterborough, Wisbech and Kings Lynn. Other local buses serve the route. For more details see National public transport information.
