The former railway between South Staffordshire and Wolverhampton, closed in 1968, now provides the basis for an interesting green multi-user route to the south and west of Wolverhampton, connecting with canal towpaths and various local trails.

Five circular walks connect with the path, forming a network of paths around Wombourne.

  • Orton Circular from Wombourne Station via Orton 5km/3 miles
  • Awbridge and Trysull Circular from Wombourne Station via Awbridge and Trysull 6.5km/4 miles
  • Swindon and Himley Circular from Himley via Swindon and Wombourne 8km/5 miles
  • Wombourne Village Circular from Wombourne Station via Wombourne Village 3km/2 miles
  • Himley and Baggeridge Circular from Himley via Baggeridge Country Park and Wombourne 9km/5.5 miles

Accessibility

disability logoThe Railway Path is accessible throughout with a good surface suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Some sections of the circular walks are also accessible. The Wombourne walk uses mainly pavements and surfaced paths. See publications for details.
