A network of mainly off-road multi-user routes, also open to cyclists, through Stoke and Newcastle, using canal towpaths, disused railway lines, parks and open spaces, regenerated industrial areas and links through quiet streets. The routes link many of the area's key centres with parks and green spaces, including Apedale Country Park on the western fringe of the built-up area.

Principal routes are:

  • Kidsgrove, Crackley, Chesterton, Cross Heath, Newcastle, wtih link Cross Heath to Silverdale
  • Kidsgrove, Newfield, Longport, Stoke, Barlaston along the Trent and Mersey Canal, with link Newfield to Crackley
  • Kidsgrove, Tunstall, Stanfield, Cobridge, Hanley, with link to Stanfield to Longport
  • Tunstall, Fegg Hayes, Ford Green Hall, Sneyd Green, Cobridge

The greenways are currently being upgraded, with sections from Burslem to Cobridge and along the Whitfield Valley recently completed.

Accessibility

Public Transport

Numerous frequent buses around the conurbation. The main railway line runs parallel to the Trent and Mersey Canal route between Barlaston and Kidsgrove, with intermediate stops at Wedgwood, Stoke, Etruria and Longport.
