A countryside trail along the western edge of Worcestershire connecting Bewdley with the Malvern Hills. Along the way are the woodlands of Wyre Forest, and numerous hills, though the terrain is rolling and rich rather than severe.
The original north-south route ran from Kinver Edge to Hollybush with a later spur that struck out eastwards from just short of the southern end to join the river Severn near Bushley, allowing walkers to join the Severn Way into Tewkesbury. However in 2004 the Way was relaunched by Worcestershire council in a truncated form: the official route now runs from Bewdley to Malvern (49.5km/31 miles) with no spurs, and has been rerouted to keep wholly within Worcestershire (previously some sections strayed into Herefordshire). The older, longer route is still shown on OS mapping.
The 74km/46-mile unsigned Malvern Link links the old route of the Way to the North Worcestershire Path, running from Forhill, where the North Worcestershire Path once ended, southwest through gentle agricultural countryside and parkland via Worcester to the Gullet, just north of the original end of the Worcestershire Way at Hollybush. All three paths can be used to create a 160km/100-mile circular walk through Worcestershire.
Public Transport
Kinver has bus services to Stourbridge for trains and buses to Birmingham. Arley and Bewdley are linked by the independent Severn Valley Railway with services to Kidderminster for National Rail connections. Bewdley also has numerous local bus services. Abberley, Martley, Knightwick and Longley Green also have bus services. Malvern and Colwall have bus services and good rail links to Hereford, Worcester and Birmingham. Buses serve numerous points along the southern part of the route. Tewkesbury has bus connections to nearby Ashchurch station for Cheltenham, Gloucester, Worcester and Birmingham.
