Yorkshire Wolds Way

Hessle, Kingston upon Hull to Filey 127 km/79 miles

A curving route around and across the Yorkshire Wolds via Market Weighton, linking the North Sea to the Humber. The route was originally established in 1982 as the Wolds Way, and changed its name to the Yorkshire Wolds Way in 2003. A recent alteration visits the fascinating ruins of Wharram Percy, a deserted mediaeval village. The entire route forms a link in European path E2.

Update. Due to major road works on the A63 at Melton the Trail between North Ferriby and Welton will be diverted to follow a more westerly route along more of the Humber
Estuary. The diversion will be in place from late 2004 and will last for about 20 months. More information when it is available on the website below.

Public transport. The Wolds Way Explorer bus service offers two special routes on Sundays and bank holidays from easter to the end of September, plus Tuesdays during school holidays. W1 runs from Pocklington to Sledmere, via Millington, Thixendale, Wharram Percy and Bainton. W2 runs from Goole and Howden to Bridlington, Rudston, Sledmere, Malton and Thornton le Dale. Both have connections and through tickets to Hull, Beverley and York. All-day tickets on the Explorers costs only £2.50. The buses are part of the Moorsbus network and also covered by all-in tickets and passes valid on this network. For more information contact the National Trail Office (see below).
