I grew up in the wilds of the Hertfordshire/ M25 border and to my parents' disbelief always preferred walking, wildlife and woods to football.
As well as writing for Walk, I write features on the great outdoors, the environment, climate change and pretty much anything else for Geographical, the Independent, the Daily Telegraph and BBC Countryfile and Wildlife magazines.
I'm still learning how to fold an OS map in a Force 7 gale, though no doubt my kids will put me right any time soon.
