Ramblers Cymru is celebrating St David’s Day by launching its vision for walking in Wales and inviting people to take a stroll across the largest map of Wales ever produced.
In the new 10 year vision, Ramblers Cymru maps out how Wales can be a happier, healthier nation where walking is at the heart of every community. Ramblers Cymru believes that local landscapes and paths should be a source of national pride and that outdoor spaces should be cherished community assets.
To mark the occasion, the Ramblers Cymru team are rolling out a giant Ordnance Survey map in Roald Dahl Plass and inviting people to join them for a Welsh cake and to talk walking.
Director of Ramblers Cymru, Angela Charlton, said: “We are working to create a Wales where everyone can enjoy walking in the great outdoors and the many health and social benefits it brings.
“Our path network is something to be treasured and we want everyone to recognise the value that it brings in connecting people to the places around them.
“By joining up communities, connecting people to their local landscapes, unveiling new places to discover and continuing to maintain our world class network of paths, we can make Wales the best walking country in the world. Not just for us, but for future generations to come.”
