New website to help walkers enjoy National Trails

A new website dedicated to the 15 National Trails in England and Wales has been launched featuring Ordnance Survey mapping, recommended itineraries and suggestions from trail users, making it easier to walk these inspiring long-distance routes.

Changes to rights of way legislation will benefit walkers and landowners

Recent articles in the Telegraph and the Times have suggested landowners have won a new right to move footpaths from their land, a misleading interpretation of proposed changes to rights of way legislation put forward as part of the draft Deregulation Bill which, if implemented as a package, will benefit both walkers and landowners.

A well-used, historic path leading to Nottingham Castle has now been declared a public footpath thanks to the efforts of local residents and Ramblers volunteers, following attempts by the management company of a nearby private residential housing estate to block the route.
