+ A versatile, lightweight shell which performed well, even in heavy downpours. The two large pockets are big enough for an OS map and are mesh lined to provide ventilation. The pockets are high enough not to get in the way of a climbing harness or a rucksack hip belt. Articulated arms allow for high-reaching movement without the hem lifting, even at full stretch. The hood has a three point adjustment with an excellent wired peak.

- Montane jackets don't suit everyone. Their sizings tend to be a skinny fit and for anyone with a larger frame or perhaps wanting the flexibility of adding layers then they won’t be their first choice.

VERDICT: A very well thought-out jacket, which Montane have upgraded over the years.  It’s well-made, surprisingly durable and at £110 RRP (although we’ve seen it listed for £60) it is a superb option. However, this is a lightweight jacket, so don’t expect it to take the place of a full-on walking jacket.
