+ This jacket has great-sized external zipped pockets, which provide storage for maps, a compass and snacks, plus two smaller zipped pockets. It’s a Gore-Tex shell that is hardy without being too heavy, and it has a large hood with a wired peak, which could even fit over a climbing helmet. Inside the jacket there is a neat zipped secure pocket for valuables.
- The cut is a little too generous in places and flaps around in the wind, as do the long hood draw cords, which can whip you in the face. At £280, it’s a hefty outlay for a piece of kit.
VERDICT: A good all round four-season Gore-Tex waterproof jacket which is lightweight and packs down well – although it could do with pit zips to increase breathability. Overall this is clearly a high spec mountain jacket, so it’s unsurprising that it is a higher price than many other jackets here.
