+ Fit has been refined compared to older Berghaus jackets, and it shows – the trim silhouette looks good and feels comfortable, with a dropped rear hem for extra protection. The hood is fully adjustable, and we also like the internal map pocket. External zipped hand pockets are a good size and well placed. The main zip glides smoothly and cuffs are fully adjustable to fit over gloves.
- While the two-layer Gore-Tex system offers good waterproof performance, it is not as light or as breathable as a three-layer jacket. The jacket does not have pit zips, and the profile of the peak of the hood is quite square, which feels a little strange with the hood up and tends to restrict visibility.
VERDICT: A solid and dependable all-round Gore-Tex jacket for mountain walks, which feels very protective. Only let down by the lack of pit zips and squared-off hood design.
