We are the Northumbria Area Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.

The Northumbria Area stretches from Berwick upon Tweed & Alnwick in the North to Chester le Street and Durham in the South. From Derwentside in the West to Sunderland in the East.
The fourteen groups within the Area are based in the main towns and all our walks are in the superb surrounding countryside. The total area membership is about 2000.
The groups warmly welcome new members or those who would like to go walking while visiting Northumbria. All walks are advertised on the Northumbria website and most groups have their pages on this website together with contact information.
Whether you are in your 20’s or 80’s, like a shorter walk or a strenuous session in the hills or, like most of us, something in between, we can offer several walks every week in pleasant company at different venues throughout this beautiful area.
The Northumbria Area AGM will be held on Saturday 7th February 2026 at Whitley Chapel Parish Hall NE47 0HB.
We meet at 10.15, do a short circular walk, change boots etc and have lunch at 1:00 PM.
Some refreshments will be available, although you may like to bring your own packed lunch.
The meeting starts at 2.00 and will end at 4.00.
