Hanging Stones visit

We plan to revisit the Hanging Stones Sculpture Trail in Rosedale/Northdale and have booked Sunday 16 June for this event. There are 10 barns to visit along the 6 mile trail, each containing a natural sculpture by the internationally renowned artist Andy Goldsworthy. To walk the trail, and visit the barns, takes between 5 and 6 hours and there is a charge of £10 per person, payable in advance. The plan is for 3 groups of 6 (including a leader) to set off from Rosedale Abbey at 10am, 10.30am and 11am. Please see the link below for more details about the sculptures and the terrain: https://hangingstones.org/ Please let me know if you would like to book a place. Places will be allocated on a "first come, first served" basis. Please do not make any payments until your place has been confirmed. Best wishes Rosemary Smart (Membership Secretary)

Walking in Ryedale and North York Moors

You will find a warm welcome whatever the weather with the Ryedale group. We walk in beautiful countryside including the North York Moors and Howardian Hills offering moorland, forests, historical attractions and small villages using footpaths and tracks. We walk in a group led by one of our volunteers and no-one gets left behind.

We usually walk 8-10 miles on Sundays and bring a packed lunch and drinks. There are also shorter, more leisurely walks of 5-7 miles on some Fridays or Saturdays. Many of our walks end with an opportunity to have a cuppa or pint together. Our walks are only suitable for assistance dogs unless otherwise indicated.

As a member you will also be invited to join our social events which could include walks with afternoon teas, picnics or mince pies and themed walks.

Just look at the walks finder for details. We hope to meet you soon.

Join our friendly walking community

We are a small, friendly group within a beautiful area of North Yorkshire. We have an enthusiastic committee who are keen to welcome new members and offer a good range of walks and social activities.

In the past two years we have expanded our walking programme to include monthly shorter walks giving us an opportunity to have a chat and get to know each other better. There is no need to book but please feel free to contact the walk leader if you have any questions.

We have volunteer footpath monitors who improve our large network of paths by reporting issues and checking rights of way continue remain open to us.

Do come and give it a go, we are sure you will have a good time.
