Our work in Scotland
Find out about our work promoting walking, securing access for walkers, developing path networks and protecting the countryside and our wild land
Ramblers Scotland took a leading role during the passage of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003. This Act establishes a statutory right of responsible access over most areas of land and water including mountains, moorland, forests, farmland, coasts and riverbanks and is accompanied by the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Dave Morris, Director of Ramblers Scotland stated “We can proudly say that Scotland now has one of the best arrangements in Europe for public access to land and water for its citizens and for its visitors”.
