Volunteers founded the Ramblers in 1935, and they remain the heart and soul of the organisation. Today over 25,000 volunteers give their time, knowledge and skills to ensure we can continue to deliver our mission. Across England, Scotland and Wales the Ramblers have a network of 60 areas and 550 groups. These are managed by volunteer committees. These are critical in making sure we run effectively and deliver our mission on the ground across all of Great Britain. A key part of our mission is to help everyone everywhere enjoy walking. This might be through leading one of the many thousands of walks we put on every year, maintaining websites to ensure anyone can access our extensive programme, or developing walks.
