1. The role
To contribute to the RA's work in preserving and enhancing the beauty of the countryside for the benefit of the public.
2. Duties
Essential
- To remain informed of issues relating to the countryside and to communicate these as appropriate to members of the Area Committee and to RA members in the Area.
- To work with the Area committee to prioritise countryside issue
- To comment on behalf of the RA in writing to statutory or other bodies on matters of importance (eg. proposals, consulatations etc)
- To co-ordinate with neighbouring RA Areas on countryside matters which cross Area boundaries including regional work
Desirable
- To devise ways of taking action so that the Area's voice on countryside matters can be heard.
- To encourage other members of the RA in the Area to become involved in supporting countryside work.
3. Skills & Experience
- A love for the British countryside and an interest in working to maintain and enhance its beauty, especially for all people who walk in it.
- An interest in developing the countryside work at Area level
- An ability and interest to read through information from Central Office monthly mailings and to identify the countryside issues on which the Area may want, or ought to note and respond.
- An ability to influence committee and other RA members and then to accept and act on jointly-taken decisions.
- A willingness to be accountable for your work to the Area committee and the RA in general.
- An interest in working alongside others and in involving other members of the RA with the countryside work
- Ability to work with a computer and to correspond by email.
