Get Walking Keep Walking
Get
Walking Keep Walking is a project that helps people in big
cities do more regular local walking to improve their health and
well-being. It provides free locally based 12-week walking
programmes combining information and motivation with led walks
and other activities
The project has been piloted in South London and Birmingham and will expand to East London, Manchester and Sheffield in 2008 thanks to lottery funding.
Little legs big strides
A one-year project to help make walking a daily part of the lives of young children from areas of high deprivation in Southwark, south London, launching in September 2006.
Walking Out in Sheffield
Ramblers volunteers lead regular short easy walks in or near Sheffield, all accessible by public transport and ideal for those new to walking or who have previously attended health walks.
Easy walks run by local volunteers
Many Ramblers Groups in England offer regular programmes of shorter, easier led walks and walks aimed at families.
Walks for visually impaired people
In some parts of England, Ramblers Groups work with visually impaired Groups to help visually impaired people enjoy the outdoors.
Events
We support National Day of Walking on the third Sunday of September and In Town Without My Car Day (European Car-Free Day) on 22 September.
