Walking Out walks are short, easy, safe and free, and they all start locally. There’ll be someone to show you the way, and there’s no need to hurry – we’ll make sure that we’re walking at a pace that’s comfortable for you.
You don’t need any special equipment: just wear comfortable shoes bring a coat in case it rains! Some walks are suitable for buggies and wheelchairs (please phone for details).

About the Walking Out project
Walking Out was launched in 2003 as a pilot project to promote the benefits of walking to those who, for whatever reason, haven't had the opportunity to enjoy walking before by providing shorter, easier walks in or near to urban areas and accessible by public transport. After a small pilot in Ulverston, full Walking Out programmes ran in Lincoln, Sheffield and Stoke in 2004-05, originally with Countryside Agency funding. The Lincoln and Stoke programmes then ended, but Walking Out in Sheffield has continued, led by volunteers from Sheffield Ramblers. All the projects made links with local community groups and organisations, including groups for older people, refugees and people with disabilities.
Walking Out is a Ramblers promoting walking project. Read more about promoting walking work in Great Britain.
