15th – 30th October 2008

"A free-footed celebration of London’s film heritage"
This October, London Ramblers are running a two week celebration of London’s film heritage by foot in association with The Times BFI 52nd London Film Festival.
Between the 15th and 30th of October, Britain’s Biggest Walking charity will be running a programme of walks visiting various locations in London that have been captured on the big screen. All the walks are free, colourfully commentated, and open to everyone.
Eleanor Harris, Foot Festival Organiser and Publicity Officer for the Metropolitan Walkers (London's 20’s to 30’s walking group) comments: "London is a wonderful city to walk around and has some stunning locations that have been captured on film. We felt these 'films on foot' walks were a fantastic way to let Londoners discover a different side to their city especially during The London Film Festival. We also want to encourage Londoners to try out walking with the Ramblers - it's a great way to get fit, make new friends and discover different parts of the UK."
The meticulously researched, guided walks range from 3 to 8 miles and will take place around the City throughout the festival, and will include instantly recognisable locations such as:
- Spooky Fourier Street, East End: 28 Days Later, Crying Game, From Hell, Nicholas Nickleby
- Traditional Temple, Westminster: Shakespeare in Love, Elizabeth, Da Vinci code
- Iconic Greenwich Naval College, Greenwich: Four Feathers, Charlotte Gray, The Golden Compass, Patriot Games and upcoming The Duchess (Sept 2008)
The walks are being led by members of the Ramblers' Metropolitan Walkers group (20’s- 30’s walking group for Londoners ) and Ramblers' South Bank group. The walks will take place every Wednesday and weekend day throughout the London Film Festival (15-30 October 2008).
