Walking festivals and events are the perfect way to promote all that is great about walking. They offer the opportunity to get together with friends and family and enjoy the great outdoors, to meet new, like-minded people and for those new to walking to get involved.
They’re also a good excuse to celebrate a particular type of walking – such as winter walking or walking by the coast – while regional walking festivals and events are a chance to explore our magnificent British landscapes, and gain an often intriguing insight into local traditions.
The British walking calendar is rich with local festivals, with many Ramblers walking groups running or contributing walks to them each year. The walks on local festival programmes tend to be free – or if not charge only a very small fee – with a broad range of walks for different ability levels as well as special interest walks covering topics such as local history, wildlife and photography.
Ramblers national walking festivals and events – which include the popular Festival of Winter Walks and Get Walking Week – also rely on our network of dedicated volunteer walk leaders who always produce inspiring programmes of walks.
Our national festivals are free and open to everyone. They a great way to experience the social atmosphere of group walking and get to know a local Ramblers walking group as well as find out about the benefits of membership.
Our events calendar is updated throughout the year with walking festivals and events from across Britain. You can use our regional search to find an event near you or even submit your own event to be included. Take a look to see what’s coming up.
