Walking information

We provide practical information and advice on walking issues to the walking public and those interested in taking up walking.

Whether you walk by yourself or in a social group, ramblers.org.uk provides vital information on your rights as walkers, your health and practical issues such as safety and navigating. It also has news, events and high-quality walking routes.

Visit our advice for walkers section for tips on:

In addition our quarterly magazine Walk includes a wealth of walking knowledge from gear reviews to routecards, insightful features to first-person accounts. Walk, which has the highest readership of any walking magazine in the country, is free to members or available on the news-stands for £3.60.

Ramblers walking groups around Britain regularly produce walking guides using their local knowledge to create unique collections of trails.

You’ll also see us at events and festivals throughout Britain working with organisations like the YHA and the National Trust to provide information to their visitors.

For those people not currently walking, but who are considering improving their health and wellbeing through physical activity, we are an essential helper and source of information. In England we partner with Macmillan Cancer Support as the national centre for the Walking for Health programme and we also operate our Get Walking Keep Walking short walks programme. In Scotland we run our Medal Routes and Take 30 projects and in Wales we run Let's Walk Cymru.
