The Festival of Winter Walks is back and we're inviting everyone to join us as we explore Britain’s wintry landscapes. This year’s festival will run from Saturday 23 December to Sunday 7 January and include Ramblers group walks, health walks and routes.
You can use our free walks tracker to find and log your own walks.
Throughout the festival you'll be able to sign up and setup your walking profile and set your own challenges. As you step out you'll be able to record your walks to earn up to 32 unique badges, and watch your progress as you climb the leaderboards.
Whatever your age or ability there’s a walk for you. We’ve got fun festive-themed walks that the little ones will love; leisurely strolls under 5 miles for people new to walking; and longer walks for those that want more of a challenge over the Christmas break. For those of you who may be short on time or want a gentler stroll, why not join a health walk?
Walks take place across England, Scotland and Wales, from cities to the coast and from parkland to country fields. All our walks are led by experienced volunteers.
If you don’t want to join a group walk, you can still get involved. Find your own winter walk with Ramblers Routes – our online library of over 2,750 walking routes. There’s everything from invigorating coastal walks to gentle strolls along country lanes, with printable, easy-to-read maps and simple route directions.

Each of the seasons has its own particular joys for the walker - and winter brings much to look forward to. It’s the joy of big scarves and open fires, frosty mornings and blazing evanescent sunsets, the crackle of ice on lakes and rivers. It may put the clocks back but it needn’t put the boots back.
Of course the winter days are short, but that doesn’t mean a walker can’t pack them with pleasure, and there are plenty of walks to choose from. This years festival takes place from Saturday 23 December 2017 to Sunday 7 January 2018.
The Ramblers’ Festival of Winter Walks is supported by players of People's Postcode Lottery.
