The Ramblers helps everyone, everywhere, enjoy walking and protects the places we all love to walk. Our trustees act on behalf of members to steer the Ramblers and guarantee its future. As a trustee you’ll help to shape the strategy for achieving our mission, drawing on your skills and experience.
Volunteering as a trustee carries significant responsibility but is immensely rewarding in contributing to the health and development of the Ramblers and our vision of a country where everyone enjoys the outdoors on foot and benefits from the experience. As a new trustee, you’ll get plenty of support, including an induction, training and mentoring.

What are we looking for?
There are three ordinary member vacancies, each serving a three-year term beginning in April 2020.
We need members with fresh perspectives and insights who can demonstrate:
The board recognises that it is more effective if it includes a variety of perspectives, experiences and skills. Diversity is essential for boards to stay informed and responsive and to navigate the fast-paced and complex changes facing the voluntary sector. The board would therefore welcome nominations from all parts of the membership in line with our values of being inclusive to all and welcoming people from diverse backgrounds, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
If you’re a current Ramblers member you can apply to become a trustee. You’ll need to have been a member since 22 February 2019 at the latest. You don’t have to be active within your local Area or Group nor part of any local committee to stand for election.
Members of the General Council vote for the new trustees at the annual general meeting to be held in Bristol in April 2020.
The deadline for receipt of nominations is 22 February 2020.
