Welsh Council 2020

Welsh Council 2020

Please note that Welsh Council has been postponed and will now be held on the 30 & 31 of May 2020 (rather than the 21 & 22 March 2020) at the Margam Discovery Centre which is a residential learning and training centre run by the Field Studies Council (FSC) in partnership with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council in South Wales.

The Centre is set in 850 acres of beautiful historic parkland where 600 deer roam freely. There is a diverse range of habitats and landscapes within the park, including natural and plantation woodlands, grasslands, ponds, streams and lakes.  An Iron Age hill fort, remains of a 12th Century Cistercian Abbey, a Georgian Orangery and the Victorian gothic mansion house known as Margam Castle are all within a 10 minute walk.

You can register to attend on Eventbrite.

About Welsh Council

Our annual general meeting is commonly referred to as Welsh Council to which delegates from Areas and Groups are nominated as specified in the Constitution of Ramblers Cymru. Officers of Welsh Council and members of the Welsh Council Executive Committee also attend plus guests from staff, the Board of Trustees (of Ramblers) and the membership in Wales. Sometimes, guests are invited from outside this list.

At the annual general meeting, elections are held for honorary officers and for members of the Welsh Council Executive Committee (WCEC). The Welsh Council Executive Committee (WCEC) report on the previous financial year, both formally (in terms of reports) and informally (in terms of discussions). Any formal motions are discussed and voted on, and if passed, are instructions to WCEC for the future.

There will be opportunities to learn more about the work of the Ramblers organisation in Wales and across the UK as well as the opportunity to participate in practical workshops.
