The British Horse Society, Open Spaces Society and the Ramblers support training on how to claim historical rights of way.
The aim of the training is to enthuse, enable and empower rights of way researchers to make definitive map modification order applications to ensure routes that would be extinguished in 2026 are saved from the cut-off date.
Learn how to identify historical routes and the key resources used to study them from two acknowledged experts in the field, Sarah Bucks and Dr Phil Wadey, co-authors of 'Rights of Way Restoring the Record'. Find out what your evidence can unlock and how to create a systematic research method to investigate your routes.
At the time of writing (December 2019), there are no training days scheduled. If you'd like to double check for new ones, you can see listings on the Restoring the Record website.
This training is FREE and open to everyone. Tea/coffee is included but delegates should bring along a packed lunch.
Delegates should also bring a laptop (wi-fi provided) – tablets or smartphones may not be suitable for some training exercises – and OS maps of their local area.
