Walk the dog

If you are new to walking challenges, or not so confident at map-reading, this year we are offering a led walk option on the 6 mile route.  You will be guided around the spectacular landscape by an experienced walk leader, leaving you free to enjoy the wonderful views. If you prefer, you can take this route self guided, challenging yourself with map reading and way-finding.

Enjoy the steady walk along farm tracks and take in the beautiful views of Devil’s Bridge.

To start, there's a slight uphill climb for you to take in the atmospheric views of the wilds of Wales. This route will include 1km of country road walking before another gentle uphill climb to reward you with lake views before reaching basecamp (Tynrhyd Retreat).

All routes will be fully marshalled and the event will be supported by Brecon Mountain Rescue Team.

All Walkers will get:

  • A bespoke route guide
  • A Big Welsh Walk t-shirt
  • A Big Welsh Walk medal
  • Discounted deals at local accommodation, attractions and food & drink outlets

Is this a family friendly walk?

Yes, it is. Families are more than welcome to attend the Big Welsh Walk.  Any people under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Can I bring a dog?

Yes, dogs are more than welcome to attend. All dogs must be kept on lead at all times. Please be aware that there are numerous stiles which your dog may need to be lifted over. The Big Welsh Walk takes place in an agricultural area and there will be livestock- the owner is responsible at all times for the dog. Please also be mindful of the length of challenge you and your dog are undertaking.
