Date : 16 December 2019
Time : 10:00 to 16:00
Location : Meet at Coldrinnick, half way along the path. Coldrinnick lies in the centre of a maze of very narrow lanes and there may be better ways of getting there than the following! From east Taphouse on the A390, turn south onto the B3359, signed Looe and Polperro. After a little over 3 miles, take a turning on the left signed Churchbridge and Duloe. After 1½ miles, take the third turn on the right, an even narrower lane signed Penquite. Take the next turn on the right signed Unsuitable for Wide Vehicles. After about ¼ mile, the farm lane on the left should take you to Coldrinnick Farm. Park beyond the houses near the farm yard.
Last month it was tipping down with rain when we arrived. In the morning we sheltered in a shed for a bit, then ventured out to look at the site of some of the remaining work. By midday the rain had stopped and we put up a gate at Penquite in the afternoon. Work output rather less than usual but at least something achieved.
This month we will be putting up gates and steps between Coldrinnick and Penquite and adding a handrail to the bridge we built in October. There may also be other bits and pieces to do.
Bring appropriate tools if you have them but essential tools will be supplied. No need to contact me in advance if you are coming, just turn up. Don’t feel obliged to stay for the whole day. If you could spare a couple of hours it would be much appreciated. Please bring a packed lunch and drinks. Please let others, particularly those without internet/email facilities, know about these projects. Most people enjoy our work days and have the satisfaction that they are making a small but significant contribution to improving Cornwall’s public path network.
