Date : 24 September 2019
Time : 10:00 to 16:00
Location : At Coldrinnick, half way along the path. Coldrinnick lies in the centre of a maze of very narrow lanes and there may be better ways of getting there than the following!
From east Taphouse on the A390, turn south onto the B3359, signed Looe and Polperro. After a little over 3 miles, take a turning on the left signed Churchbridge and Duloe. After 1½ miles, take the third turn on the right, an even narrower lane signed Penquite. Take the next turn on the right signed Unsuitable for Wide Vehicles.
After about ¼ mile, the farm lane on the left should take you to Coldrinnick Farm.
The project is likely to last for 2 or 3 months. Jobs for the day will depend on what materials have been delivered but may include building a couple of bridges, putting up 3 gates, building steps and vegetation clearing.
The path we are working on has been obstructed for many years and is badly in need of a complete refurbishment. It’s the usual type of work, a couple of new bridges, replacement of barbed wire fences with gates, a new timber stile in a Cornish hedge, steps up steep banks. The vegetation is not dense and clearance is mainly of small branches of trees and a little scrub. Our first day’s work is likely to be on the south west part of the path between Coldrennick and Trefanny Hill.
General notes: Bring appropriate tools if you have them but essential tools will be supplied. No need to contact me in advance if you are coming, just turn up. Don’t feel obliged to stay for the whole day. If you could spare a couple of hours it would be much appreciated. Please bring a packed lunch and drinks. Please let others, particularly those without internet/email facilities, know about these projects. Most people enjoy our work days and have the satisfaction that they are making a small but significant contribution to improving Cornwall’s public path network.
