REACT Path Clearance - Near Fowey

We will be putting up 3 gates, making good faces of hedges, and possibly putting up flag signs. Note that there is almost no vegetation clearance this month.

Our work at Duloe is now completed. Tony and I were the only ones who turned up last month and we had a long day in cold but pleasant sunshine finishing off gates, stone steps and a parapet rail on the bridge. Cornwall Council will need to make a diversion order to take the path around remaining obstructions such as a large farm shed, which is across the path.

This month we are moving a few miles to the west to Fowey, in Restormel territory. We have not worked in Fowey before. The path we are working on is on the top of a hill and has good views down to the coast. The farmers will be digging out gaps in the hedges and we will face up the sides with stone and erect 3 gates. We will also put up a couple of flag signs if available.

REACT will only be successful if there are enough people to lend a hand, so if you are able to come you would be very welcome. No previous experience necessary.

General notes:

Bring appropriate tools if you have them but essential tools will be supplied. Don’t feel obliged to stay for the whole day. If you could spare a couple of hours it would be much appreciated. Please bring a packed lunch and drinks.

Please let others, particularly those without internet/email facilities, know about these projects. Most people enjoy our work days and have the satisfaction that they are making a small but significant contribution to improving Cornwall’s public path network.
