Porlock Walking Weekend and Weirfest 2022

IMG_0460.JPG

An away-trip walking programme scheduled over 4 days (30th June – 3rd July), in the coastal area of Porlock Vale in Somerset, on the northern fringe of Exmoor. Click here for more information about Porlock Vale.

This will be the group's fourth weekend away here, timed to coincide with the Porlock Weirfest - see link below. We first enjoyed the Weirfest in 2018 as a group of just 8 walkers - the combination of fantastic walking, Exmoor scenery and Porlock hospitality as proved very popular and our walks in 2021 saw more than double that number, with some partners joining as well to enjoy the event.

The Weirfest is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2022 and visitors can expect live music across all four days and 50+ real ales and ciders. The festival is hosted by the two famous pubs, the Top Ship in Porlock Village and the Bottom Ship at the Porlock Weir. A minibus runs a shuttle service between the two during the festival.

Four walks are being put on in 2022 and will include two stretches of South West Coast Path; a circular from Porlock Village inland and up through ancient woodland out onto the moor and a final day's stretch out to reach Exmoor's highest point, Dunkery Beacon.

Fitness

All participants are responsible for their own health and fitness to undertake this walk / programme. Our group walks at a fairly brisk pace, so it’s important you are used to walking hilly terrain and over these distances. Please contact us in advance if you have any concerns.
