We are the Aberdeen Young Walkers Group. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
This circular walk begins by following tarmac lanes and tracks through the Dunecht Estate, giving views of the great country house as well as over the Policy Loch. The start point will begin from the entrance gates to Dunecht Estate along the roadside and has free parking.
The walk continues with a moorland climb up to the remains of the iron-age hillfort on the summit of Barmekin Hill, with good views over the Aberdeenshire countryside.
The route is around 11km and should take between 3 to 4 hours. The maximum ascent shall be no more than around 200m.
