Our Summer coach trip this year will be to Lynmouth on Thursday 5 June 2025.
There are four options available:
-
A long walk of 9 miles starting from County Gate car park out along the South West coast path. This is a hilly walk, steep in places, following the coast to Butter Hill and Countisbury, then down to Watersmeet and along the river to Lynmouth. A challenging walk but the views are fantastic. Walking poles are recommended. There will be a 10 minute coffee stop along the way and a 30 minute lunch stop planned at Watersmeet if timings allow. Total walk time is expected to be 4.5 hours not including these two stops.
-
A shorter walk of 6 – 7 miles starting from Lynmouth, following the SW coast path to Countisbury, down to Watersmeet then following the river back to the coach park. The path up to Countisbury is uphill and at times uneven. There is a steep zig-zag descent to Watersmeet and poles are recommended. There are no stiles.
-
A gentle amble of 4 miles along the riverbank to Watersmeet and back to Lynmouth.

Explore Lynmouth/Lynton at your leisure.
Please bring your own picnic lunch. Tea and cake will not be included in the ticket price this year but there are a couple of options available for you to purchase your own refreshments. There is the National Trust cafe at Watersmeet which will be en-route for both the longer and shorter walks. The Pavilion Dining room Cafe in Lynmouth near the Cliff Railway has lovely views out to sea and it is proposed that we meet here at the end of the walk.
The cost of the trip is £20 per person and places will be booked on a first come first received basis.
