Situated in the heart of Northumberland, Rothbury, known as the capital of Coquetdale, is a market town with a village feel surrounded by the stunning backdrops of Cragside and the Simonside Hills. Rothbury has had a turbulent and bloody history. In the 15th and 16th centuries the Coquet valley was a pillaging ground for bands of Reivers who attacked and burned the town with terrifying frequency. Now it provides splendid walking with wide open space.
