Walk Cambridge is an active walking club and social group, aimed at working age people living in Cambridge and the surrounding area.
Walk Cambridge Ramblers members please come along to your AGM at the Plough in Fen Ditton, CB5 8SX. The meeting will start from 3:30pm but feel free to turn up any time from 3pm.
If you are on the walk earlier in the day you will be led to the pub. If not, you may wish to cycle if coming from central Cambridge or it is a 30 min walk from both Cambridge North and Newmarket Road Park and Ride if using public transport. There is also a free car park at the pub.
We need people to volunteer to be organisers to ensure the continued existence of Walk Cambridge. Ideally we need about 6 people to cover the running of the group - this involves coordinating with the walk leaders and other groups to plan walks, socials and trips away; communications with the group members via email/Meetup/Ramblers website; managing memberships; and group finances. Traditionally roles have been designated as Chair, Walks Programme Coordinator, Membership Secretary, Treasurer etc but you can take on various roles or tasks according to your preference.
We also always need people to be walk leaders which is a lesser commitment - we would ask you to lead 3 walks per year. There is very good online training from Ramblers which covers planning and leading walks. We can also support you with existing routes and walk descriptions and accompaniment from more experienced walk leaders on the day.
