Meet at 18:45 for a 19:00 start for a 3 mile circular walk in the woods from Cranham village.
George Orwell, the author of 1984 and Animal Farm, stayed in the Sanitorium for TB patients in the 1940's. We’ll be visiting the site of the Sanatorium and then following the route that he would have taken down to the pub.Afterwards there is the opportunity for drinks and food at the Black Horse pub.
Additional Notes: This walk is arranged by Ramblers and free to join. After 2 or 3 walks we request you become a member of the Ramblers. Our group code is GR50 and you can join via www.ramblers.org.uk/get-involved/join-the-ramblers.aspx
We're encouraging people to book onto this walk via our meetup site. This helps walk leaders to know how many people to expect on the day. https://www.meetup.com/Gloucestershire-Walking-Group/events
Do ensure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather. Walking boots are recommended. Bring poles if you think you'll need them. Unfortunately we're unable to accommodate dogs. Please check the website on the morning of the walk to ensure that the walk is still going ahead as planned.
