Update 21/10 This walk will go ahead as current forecasts are for improving weather on Sunday. There are options to end the walk early if conditions did worsen. If coming to Portsmouth by train do check before setting out as storm Brian has caused a number of delays with fallen trees and bad track conditions.
Update 26/9 PLEASE NOTE THE GREAT SOUTH RUN IS TAKING PLACE TODAY. Therefore traffic in Portsmouth will be much busier than usual so allow more time for your journey. Trains from Petersfield are running with the 08:27 arriving Portsmouth Harbour at 09:01 and the 08:30 from Fareham arriving 08:58.

Return from Yarmouth via Newport.
An earlier return and shorter walk (c13 miles) is possible by catching return bus at Freshwater.
