This is a linear walk
This is another chance to walk the Group’s newest long-distance path in three sections. The 48 mile route leads from Bradford-on-Avon to Portishead. The section from Bath to Bristol will be walked on Wednesday 4 April and the final leg to Portishead will be on Wednesday 2 May.
Catch the 08:51 from Temple Meads to Bradford-on-Avon. This service calls at Keynsham and Bath Spa. The leader will be on the platform at Temple Meads, having caught the train in from Sea Mills.
This is the hardest of the three days, but there is a very easy start. After a walk along the canal towpath to Avoncliff we gently ascend to Winsley. Our route continues to Limpley Stoke and Monkton Combe before visiting the Dundas aqueduct. Spells of riverside and woodland walking take us to Brown’s Folly before descending to Bathford. We then head for Bathampton before climbing to join the Bath Skyline Walk. The Way enters Bath by Prior Park and a final ascent enables us to enjoy the city views from Beechen Cliff. We catch our return train from Bath Spa. A pub stop is not guaranteed so please bring enough to eat and drink.
