Bodafon and Lligwy
Tuesday, 6 March 2018
Start time: 10:00
Moderate 8 miles / 12.9 km
The start of this moderate walk takes in the stunning scenery and geology of Mynydd Bodafon, from the summit of which there are glorious views of northern Anglesey. The walk progresses through forest and fields along paths improved by the Silver Slashers footpath volunteers until it meets the Anglesey Coastal Path at Lligwy beach. Here geological formations from different ages are clearly visible on both sides of the small bay. We will follow the Coastal Path for a while before heading inland back to the start point, which we should reach at about 3.00 pm. Here there will be an opportunity to enjoy a well earned drink and piece of cake at the Anglesey Good Gifts cafe and craft shop which is next to the car park. This is a varied and popular walk in a beautiful part of Anglesey which you may not have seen before. The leader will explain the geological processes which formed the scenery we will walk through. You will then have a better understanding of the origins of this fascinating landscape.
