Happy Valley and Godstone
Sunday, 21 January 2018
Start time: 10:30
Moderate 9 miles / 14.5 km
Travel: Take the 10:02 from Victoria arrives Coulsdon South at 10:27, this train also stops at Clapham Junction and East Croydon. Buy a return to Nutfield which is further south and outside the TFL zones.
We head up out of Coulsdon quickly uphill with good clear views of London and walk through Happy Valley and along some of the North Downs and over the M25 to the village of Godstone where there is a choice of pubs and possibly a cafe. After a 45 minute break we will head over fields to Nutfield where there are hourly trains back to London. The aptly named Station pub will be able to provide some warmth and cheer if Happy Valley was not cheerful enough and if we need to wait for a train. Approx finish time 16:00 for 16:02 train. Please bring a pack lunch as a shorter lunch break. Note: I have not fully reccied this walk, only been to happy valley before so cannot comment on pub or availability of toilets. Also for this reason, no dogs please as no knowledge of cattle in fields during second half farmland.
Terrain: Open countryside, fields and light hills
