Through Hitchin to Hitchin Hill, Charlton, Windmill Lane, Aldwick Plantation, Great Offley, Chiltern Way across A505, Lilley Hoo, Telegraph Hill, Pegsdon Hills Nature Reserve, Pegsdon, Chiltern Way along Knocking Hoe Nature Reserve and Wood Lane to Pirton; field boundaries to Oughton River crossing, Oughtonhead Common Nature Reserve, Oughtonhead (Spring), Oughtonhead Farm, through Hitchin Old Town to station.
Lunch at The Live and Let Live Country Inn in Pegsdon (8.5 miles/13.7km).
About 6.5 hours walking; drop-out point at Pirton (11 miles/17.2km) for bus to Hitchin.
