Moderate 4.5 miles / 7.2 km
A walk in the area of Stanton Moor, seeking a hidden Gem, no less. Plus viewing some of the more well known features of this area.
It isn’t on the map and you can’t see it from the path. What is this large smooth stone with its slightly cryptic carved inscription? How is it connected to a popular nursery rhyme? Our walk will help you discover the York Stone and the story behind it.
Car park opposite the quarry stone works entrance.
This is a circular walk
This is one of hundreds of Ramblers group walks for all ages and abilities every week - all led by our experienced walk leaders. You’re welcome to join us on any of our walks to see if the Ramblers is for you. Then, once you’ve enjoyed the views, fun, exhilaration and good company, it’s just a case of becoming a member.
Do make sure you're fit enough and have the right footwear and clothing for the walk you want to do, though. You can contact the group or leader if in doubt.
