Blackwater Valley Path
If you have not yet booked a seat on our easy walk along the Blackwater Valley, then now is the time to do so as seats are going fast.
The 7 day weather forecast says it will be a dry day, with cloud cover, in which case it won't be so hot as it has been lately.
It is a nice, easy waterside walk along the Blackwater River and the Basingstoke Canal. Both paths are level and well maintained, providing a safe, flat and interesting route.
The climax of the walk takes us through Duke's Wood to the incredible Wellington Statue. After viewing this, and changing out of our boots, a short walk across the main road (there is a pedestrian crossing) brings you to the Brewers Fayre, Willems Park where refillable Costa coffee is on offer together with something a little stronger for those needing a pint, or two. There is a Tesco supermarket on the same site with its cafe open until 4pm.
If you haven't yet booked I do hope you will join us on this easy walk with many opportunities to glimpse a host of wildlife.
Hope to see you on the 12th,
CHANGE TO COACH DEPARTURE FROM NEWBURY
The coach park at the Wharf, Newbury has been closed, to start work on the new bus station.
For the coach walks, Barnes coaches will be leaving from the current bus station in Market Street.
The cars can continue to park in the same place.
At the back of the car park that we use, there is a convenient alley way that goes directly through to Market Street and this is the shortest walking route to the bus station.
