A scenic walk from Jane Austen's home, through the Hampshire Hangers to Selborne, where naturalist Gilbert White (1720-93) was parson.
Ickenham library CP
Free CP opposite Jane Austen Museum.
This is a circular walk
From Jane Austen's home, we'll walk via East Worldham to Selborne. (Be sure to visit the church where a stunning stained glass window commemorates the work of Gilbert White). Then we'll ascend the zig zag steps and continue to Upper Farringdon to see Massey’s Folly (described as a Victorian confection of red brick and terracotta) before returning to Chawton.
This is one of hundreds of Ramblers group walks for all ages and abilities every week - all led by our experienced walk leaders. You’re welcome to join us on any of our walks to see if the Ramblers is for you. Then, once you’ve enjoyed the views, fun, exhilaration and good company, it’s just a case of becoming a member.
Do make sure you're fit enough and have the right footwear and clothing for the walk you want to do, though. You can contact the group or leader if in doubt.
